Comment Timeout Plugin for WordPress
This one is just too useful not to provide a link–Comment Timeout.
It provides automated closing of comments and trackbacks. You can configure the length of time before comments are closed and also lengthen that time for popular posts. I added this to my Threads blog and my Energion Publications business blog, both of which have encountered problems with queries. Blocking these comments should reduce the workload.
